Length of Treatments

Teeth straightening requires time and dedication. Your braces are usually kept on between 6 to 30 months, depending on your age, the severity of the problem, your cooperation with your orthodontist, and the degree of movement possible. It may seem like a long time, but we want to give your mouth the time it needs to move as comfortably as possible. Once your braces are removed, you’ll use retainers to hold your teeth in their new positions until your bone, gums, and muscles adapt. The period of time you’re wearing your retainer – and being faithful to wearing it – is an important part of your overall treatment. If you’re not diligent about wearing your retainer, you may require a second round of braces.
